Experts convene at 6th I-NK Rehabcon 2025 to discuss Sports Injury Rehabilitation

The Department of Neurorehabilitation at The Institute of Neurosciences, Kolkata (I-NK), hosted “6th I-NK Rehabcon 2025”. This conference focused on various neurorehabilitation topics and brought together experts in the field to discuss the latest advancements and best practices in neurological rehabilitation. The theme of the Conference was “Rehab: Rise Run Reach Goal’.
Kirti Azad, Hon’ble member of parliament, Arup Chakraborty, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Gautam Bhimani, Leading TV host, cricket commentator and journalist, Dhiman Das, Executive Director of K.C. Das Private Limited Guest of Honour, Apurba Samanta Wheelchair & patient counsellor along with Dr Suparno Gangapadhyay (HOD Rehabilitation & this program Host), Prof Hrishikesh Kumar ( Vice Chairman, I-NK) and Prof Anupam Chattoraj ( Director General of Administration, I-NK) were present at the inaugural ceremony.
During the inauguration ceremony, experts highlighted the need of rehabilitation and pain management and interdisciplinary approach to ensure holistic rehabilitation and patient satisfaction. They also mentioned that continuous academic and research-oriented evidence-based approach along with optimal skill enhancement and utilization of technology driven musculosketal rehab and management option will remain the corner stone to achieve holistic health.
Sports injuries always require a holistic approach. Hence, rehabilitation and physiotherapy are crucial for restoring function, strength and flexibility after a sports injury. They also help reduce the risk of re-injury. Sports Injury Rehabilitation is a multidisciplinary approach aimed at the prevention, evaluation, and treatment of sports-related injuries. Under the supervision of rehabilitation medicine experts, this structured process combines specialized exercises and treatment tailored to individual injuries. The primary goal is to restore an athlete’s performance while minimizing the risk of re-injury. Additionally, sports rehabilitation plays a crucial role in enhancing flexibility, endurance, and biomechanics, ensuring a safe and efficient return to athletic activities.
