Desk: On 22nd Feb’ 2021, CT Akshay Kumar Singh was performing duty in the area of BOP Kalanchi, 112 BN BSF, under Sector Kolkata. At about 1645 hours, he saw a rally of approx 400 to 500 persons of TMC, who were coming through village Garjala many on motorcycles and moving towards village Kalanchi through Indo-Bangladesh Border Road (IBBR).
On seeing huge gathering moving towards Indo-Bangladesh Border Road, the duty person stopped the TMC rally and asked them about permission of the Coy Commander for movement on Indo-Bangladesh Border Road .
But in the meantime, one drunken person from the rally pushed and tried to manhandle CT Akshay Kumar Singh, who was on active government duty on border. Then CT Akshay Kumar Singh informed the matter to Insp Adit Narayan, Offg Coy Commander of BOP Kalanchi.
On getting the information, Offg.
Coy Commander along with 05 guards immediately reached at the spot. On seeing the BSF personnel, the drunken persons disappeared from the scene. Further, the Offg Coy Commander talked with the person present at the rally peacefully and pacified them.
After the amicable talk between the Offg Coy Commander and the persons carried out the rally, the rally went back from the India-Bangladesh border road.
However, as a gesture of maintaining amicable relation with the border population, the Offg Coy Commander did not take any legal action/lodged FIR against the rally participants while the rally on the Indo-Bangladesh Border Road without permission was legally a crime and the BSF was required to take action against the people present in the rally, since the persons from the rally manhandled the BSF person performing government duty on International border which amounts to creating obstruction in government bonafide duty.
But later on it has come to notice that the whole issue has been given political colour and an FIR has been lodged in Gaighata Police Station against BSF personnel for beating the rally participants. The charges labelled against BSF personnel are totally false, fabricated and baseless. Today, BSF also lodged counter FIR against the defaulters who created hinderance in the Govt bonafide duty of BSF person.
However, it is most unfortunate that BSF name is dragged by political parties in the ensuing State Assembly Election for their political gain at the cost of National security. Political parties might evince their moral responsibility, maturity and forsightedness in ensuring that morale of the jawans of BSF is not adversely affected because of their shortsightedness and myopic vision.
