Madhya Pradesh Minister Narottam Mishra targeted Mamata Banerjee while campaigning in West Bengal as the CBI on Monday questioned Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee’s sister-in-law in a coal scam case.
For the first time throughout the West Bengal Assembly Elections campaign, the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Monday interrogated the faithfulness and image of Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal. This question was upraised by the BJP after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) handed over summons to the wife of the Chief Minister’s nephew and Trinamool Congress (TMC) Lok Sabha MP, Abhishek Banerjee. CBI has given summons to Banerjee’s wife in a coal scam worth several crores.
Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra, who reached West Bengal for BJP’s campaigning, said that “The masses will fright her (Banerjee) now for her association in the coal scam. Everything is getting exposed. She used to put up a disguise with her Hawaii slippers, white saree, plain living and high thinking. Everything is unpeeling like the skins of an onion”.
CBI summons Mamata Banerjee’s nephew’s wife
Political battle in Bengal increased ever since Sunday afternoon when the CBI team reached at Abhishek Banerjee’s residence in South Kolkata seeking summons against his wife Rujira Banerjee nee Naroola as a witness under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. On Monday, five CBI officers questioned his sister Maneka Gambhir at her residence in South Kolkata for about 3 hours.
Agency spokespersons, said that they are inspecting foreign bank transactions. Rujira Banerjee’s family is from Thailand. Mishra made a remark in front of the media, reacting to Mamata Banerjee’s speech Kolkata on the event of International Mother Language Day at a cultural event held on Sunday.
Previously on Sunday, Banerjee said that “Threats of jail sentence cannot fright us. We have put up before guns in the past. We won’t be frightened of fighting rats. I will not yield as long as I am alive. You cannot break our spine. A tiger cub is not afraid of cats and rats,” Without naming any one or any political party, TMC head said that she has not learned to lose.
