Murshidabad Swimming Association has been creditably conducting (81k.m. & 19 k.m: both Men and Women) World Longest National Open Water Swimming competition in the river Bhagirathi for last 75 years (since 1943 i.e. before Independence) from Ahiron Barrage Ghat (Near Farakka Barrage) to Gorabazar Ghat, Berhampore, Murshidabad.
The 76th World Longest National Open Water Swimming Competition (81k.m. & 19 k.m.) of this year is fixed for 25th August, 2019(Sunday).
This year the 81k.m. competition will start at 5.()0a.m. on 25th August, 2019 at Ahiron Barrage Ghat. While the 19 k.m. competition will start at 1.30 p.m. from Jiaganj Sadar Ghat on the same day. Both the competition will be finished at Gorabazar Ghat. The Swimming Federation of India has recognized it as a National Event, in the name & style as `World Longest National Open Water Swimming Competition” .
“We have to incur huge expenses with an estimated budget of Rs. 20,00,000/-(Rupees Twenty Lakhs) only. In this competition the swimmers will be participated from different State of India namely Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tripura, West Bengal, neighbouring country Bangladesh & Aboard Country Netherlands. The Competitors of 81 k.m. are 10 nos. men and 3 nos. women, competitors of 19 k.m. (men) are 35 nos. & (women) 09 nos. A colourful Reception Ceremony will be held on 24.08.2019 at 3.00 p.m. to felicitate the Swimmers, Life Saviours, Coaches & Manager at Association Swimming Poo! Complex. The prize distribution ceremony will be held on 25.08.2019 at 5.00 p.m. at Kumar Hostel Grounc Gorabazar, Berhampore,Murshidabad The representative of Swimming Federation of India and Bengal Amateur Swimming Associatic will remain to observe the whole competition like previous year. We provide facilities of Life Insurance all the Swimmers & arrangement for Safety, Security & Life Boat for each Competitors, Life Saviour Technical Officials, Medical Team with emergency Medicine Kit & Food, Drinking Water etc. We prayed for Financial Assistance to the Govt. of West Bengal, Leading Corporate House, Berhampore, Jangipur, Jiaganj & Ajimganj Municipality & other Public Organization. ” said Debendranath Das Hony.
