Hellmann’s, the world’s favorite mayonnaise brand has proudly stood for one thing: great taste. They reinforced this belief today by inviting renowned Chef Shaun Kenworthy along with popular celebrities Parambrata Chatterjee and Priyanka Sarkar to launch the brand in India’s gateway to culinary heaven; Kolkata through a magnificent event held at Engineers club.
Currently available in over 50 countries, the brand is finally proud to introduce its world-famous mayonnaise to the Indian palate celebrating Kolkata’s passion for food. Famous for its cuisine and powerful flavors, Hellmann’s decided to go on a food trail across Kolkata eateries to create a food experience like never before showcasing the best in food through real, simple ingredients!
The launch was followed by a quintessential Kolkata experience, the Tram Ride, to make the ‘Gourmet On Wheels’ experience truly memorable. The idea was to bring together different cultures together, one of the city and other to explore endless possibilities of fusing diverse foods and flavors. A charming tram with specialized artwork was designed by the prominent graffiti artist: Hanif Kureshi to capture the experience beautifully.
Chef Shaun Kenworthy gave the city’s famous delicacies a Hellmann’s twist creating some outstanding dishes for the lucky audience. The Gondhoraj & Kashundi steamed fish he made, using Hellmann’s mayonnaise really had the audience begging for more! He attributed the lip-smacking taste of kathi rolls, pani puri and even chocolate cake he made, to the addition of the new iconic mayonnaise in town!
The tram ride covered the most well-known eateries of the city taking the lucky riders on an actual culinary journey telling food stories from across the city’s most loved areas.

Speaking at the launch, Chef Shaun Kenworthy said, “I really enjoyed hosting Hellmann’s exotic food trail through a unique tram ride. I love the city’s fondness for food and creating flavorful recipes for them with a western twist was the ideal amalgamation of both! I am definitely going to experiment with some more local dishes for my friends and family, using Hellmann’s real mayonnaise, of course!”
Attending the launch, Parambrata Chatterjee said, ‘When Hellmann’s approached me to join the launch and be a part of its debut in Kolkata, I couldn’t resist. Chef Shaun added an indo-western touch to dishes that I’ve grown up eating and the new twist completely bowled me over! I am definitely going back home with a bag full of truly the world’s no. 1 mayonnaise and cannot wait to try these myself.”
Present at the launch, Priyanka Sarkar said, “I was thrilled about the entire concept and ground-breaking idea right when Hellmann’s got in touch with me. Starting with the lip-smacking delicacies created by Chef Shaun that took me to an eternal culinary journey along with the mesmerizing view of Kolkata on the tram across Race Course and Victoria Memorial was a cherry on the cake. I’m excited to make some offbeat recipes with this rich creamy mayonnaise at home, very soon.”
