World Class Retina Care services now available in the city

Recently causes of blindness are changing in India. The number of people blind due to retinal diseases is increasing. Age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy (DR), hypertensive retinopathy, and retinal vein occlusion are the major retinal problems in the country.

Regular checkups are just as important for your eyes as they are for the rest of your body. Even if you notice no changes or problems, there may be a condition developing that will require treatment. The best way to monitor for these issues is by scheduling regular eye doctor visits which should include a retina examination.

Dr. Agarwal’s Group of Eye Hospitals, one of India’s leading networks of Eye Care Centres offering a complete solution for eye ailments launched a state of the art Retina Care Center at Kasba in Kolkata. The Retina Care Center was inaugurated by the legendary Singer Smt. Usha Uthup and presided over by Dr. Kaladevi Satish, Zonal Head- Clinical Services, Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital.

To mark this occasion, Dr.Agarwals Eye Hospital, Kasba is offering “FREE COMPREHENSIVE EYE CHECK UP for all aged above 50 years and 50% off on RETINA SCREENING PACKAGE  from 24th June 2022 till 31st July 2022”.

Commenting on the launch, Dr Madhur A Hingorani, Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist, Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital Kasba, said “Retina Care Centre is the result of our commitment to make holistic eye-care accessible across the city to meet the increasing demand of diabetic patients. This centre is equipped with the state of art equipment to diagnose and treat various retinal conditions. It also aims to improve the accessibility and affordability of quality eye care in and around Kolkata.”

A speciality center for diabetics is a critical need in our country. India is home to 77 million diabetics, second highest in the world. Diabetic Retinopathy results from damage to the blood vessels at the back of the eye, which causes fluid to leak. This accumulation of fluid can affect the retina and result in changes to vision. Other most common disorders are Retinal tear, Retinal detachment, Macular hole, Macular degeneration, and Retinitis pigmentosa.

When one experiences symptoms such as flashes of light, sudden appearance of floaters, changes in vision, blurry vision, reduced central or peripheral vision, sudden loss of vision, changes in color perception then consultation with a doctor is needed without any delay. A thorough retina checkup involves a series of tests to evaluate one’s vision and eye health. It helps detect eye problems at their earliest stage – when they’re treatable”, said Dr. Barun Garg, Consultant VR Surgeon, Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital, Kasba, Kolkata.

Speaking on the occasion, Singer Smt. Usha Uthup said, “I am delighted to inaugurate this new Retina Care Centre of Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital. Several eye conditions experienced by diabetics show no warning signs, it is important for them to get regular eye screenings to diagnose and treat these diseases at the earliest. Similarly, India has one of the world’s largest population suffering from corneal blindness. I am glad to learn that Dr.Agarwals has committed to a blindness free India by supporting eye donation.”
