Waterstone College Cricket Team from South Africa Played a 40-Over Cricket Match with Yuvraj Singh Centres of Excellence (YSCE) at Merlin Rise

A contingent of 12 members from Waterstone College, Johannesburg, South Africa, is currently touring India for a cricket series. As part of their itinerary, the team—comprising high school students from one of South Africa’s leading educational institutions—played a 40-over red-ball cricket match against the Yuvraj Singh Centres of Excellence (YSCE) team at Merlin Rise today. The YSCE team included talented players from its Under-13 and Under-15 squads. Merlin Group, in collaboration with Yuvraj Singh Centres of Excellence (YSCE), established the first and only YSCE in Eastern India in 2021. The academy began its general training programme in 2023 and has quickly become a hub for budding cricketers in the region. This friendly match provided an exceptional opportunity for young cricketers from both nations to exhibit their skills, exchange insights, and build cross-cultural camaraderie through the universal language of sports.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Saket Mohta, MD, Merlin Group, remarked, “We are thrilled to host the Waterstone College team at Merlin Rise. Matches like this create a valuable platform for our young players at the Yuvraj Singh Centre of Excellence to learn and compete against international talent. These experiences are not just about cricket; they also contribute to holistic growth by fostering discipline, teamwork, and cultural understanding. We look forward to nurturing this partnership and promoting the spirit of cricket and global friendship.”
