Disha Samman 2022, the 5th edition of the Annual Award Ceremony organized by Disha Eye Hospitals, was held at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre . The awards are an acknowledgement of the achievements of visually challenged individuals as well as organisations that work towards ensuring a better life for them. The awardees of the Disha Samman 2022 are Diwakar Sharma, the young and talented visually – impaired singer, Shyambazar Annyadesh, a theatre group formed of visually challenged artists and Football Association For The Blind In Bengal. Mr Debashis Sen, IAS, Managing Director, HIDCO, Mrs Alokananda Roy, eminent danseuse and Mr Dipendu Biswas & Mr Alvito D’ Cunha, former Indian footballer were present to honour the awardees.
“Disha Samman is our annual endeavour to recognise and honour visually challenged individuals who despite their challenges go on to lead lives of courage and inspiration, becoming heroes and role models for others in the process. We also acknowledge the ongoing efforts of organisations who work to guide and support such attempts of the visually impaired”, said Dr Debasish Bhattacharya, Chairman and Managing Director, Disha Eye Hospitals. Disha Samman consisted of a plaque and a cash prize of 50,000 INR to each of the awardees and organisations.
