St. Xavier’s College, in association with Chowman, proudly announces the launch of a 6-month Certificate Course on Hospitality Management aimed at shaping the next generation of industry professionals. The program was inaugurated today in the presence of Mr.Sudesh Poddar, President of the Hotel & Restaurant Association of Eastern India and Joint Secretary of the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Association of India, Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ,Principal of St. Xavier’s College, and Mr.Debaditya Chaudhury, Managing Director of Chowman, Co-owner; Oudh 1590 & Chapter 2.

The course will be introduced at St. Xavier’s Raghabpur Campus and is designed to provide students with hands-on experience, combining academic learning with real-world exposure in the hospitality industry. The collaboration between one of the city’s most renowned educational institutions and one of its leading hospitality brands marks a significant step toward bridging the skills gap in the sector. This course is open to students across disciplines, providing them with comprehensive training in key areas of hospitality management, including operations, customer service, and culinary arts.

Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal of St. Xavier’s College emphasized, St. Xavier’s College, Autonomous, Kolkata, introduces a Certificate course on Hospitality Management, at it’sRaghabpur Campus. This is keeping in mind the emerging employment opportunities for the students of the Raghabpur Campus, and the growing importance of the Service sector. Specially with the Handholding of Mr. Debaditya Chaudhury, a Xaverian and MD of Chowman, the future of the Course looks quite bright, with full employability potential.

Mr. Sudesh Poddar, President of HRAEI and Joint Secretary of FHRAI highlighted the importance of such initiatives, saying, “The hospitality industry is evolving rapidly, and it is crucial to have programs that equip young professionals with both knowledge and practical skills. This collaboration is a great example of fostering industry and academia partnerships.”

  2. Entry Level: Open to 12th pass or graduates from any stream
  3. Fees: ₹5000 for 6-month program
  4. Admission: First-come, first served basis
  5. Eligibility: Open to all St. Xavier’s students and external candidates
