U.S. Consulate Kolkata Hosted 2024 EducationUSA ‘Study in the U.S.’ Fair

Representatives of nearly 30 U.S. colleges and universities shared information about studying in the United States at a free higher education fair today at the Oberoi Grand hotel in Kolkata.  EducationUSA, the U.S. government’s official source of information on U.S. higher education,  and United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF), under the auspices of the U.S. Consulate General Kolkata, provided an opportunity for families, as well as  students seeking admission in undergraduate, post-graduate, and doctorate programs to meet with representatives of 28 accredited universities and colleges from across the United States and discuss  academics, student life, and financial assistance options.

With more than 4400 universities and colleges in the United States, fairs like this offer students and their parents the opportunity to ask questions and get a better idea of the range of available options.  This fair, held at no cost to students and their families, helped the participants make informed choices about U.S. higher education, learn about the U.S. student visa application process, and gain a deeper understanding about studying and living in the United States.

“The EducationUSA fairs are a great way to explore the amazing educational opportunities that the United States has to offer,” U.S. Ambassador Eric Garcetti said. “Whether you’re interested in science, technology, engineering, arts, or business, there is a program to help you achieve your dreams. These fairs offer the chance to meet representatives from a huge range of U.S. colleges and universities and attend information sessions about the college application and visa process. You will get first-hand information on admissions, scholarships, campus life and so much more about studying on a U.S. campus. Our goal is to ensure that students and their families have all the information and support needed to make your dream of studying in the United States a reality.”   “We are thrilled to see such a strong turnout at the EducationUSA Study in the U.S. University Fair here in Kolkata,” Acting Consul General and Director of the American Center Elizabeth Lee said. “This event embodies the shared commitment between the United States and India to expanding higher educational opportunities and fostering cross-cultural exchanges. By bringing together representatives from 28 prestigious U.S. institutions, we are helping students, and their families access authentic information on the diverse academic programs, vibrant and safe campus life, and potential financial support available in the United States. We believe that these interactions will pave the way for many students from Kolkata and beyond to pursue their educational aspirations in the United States, strengthening the ties between our two nations.”   The ‘Study in the U.S.’ Fair hosted, across the country, started in Hyderabad on August 16, 2024, and will conclude in New Delhi on August 25, 2024.  More than 7500 people are expected to attend these fairs country-wide
