Kolkata: On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, an awareness program for defeating COVID was organized near Champadali Bus Stand of Barasat in North 24 Parganas district. Passengers along with transport workers were made aware by giving masks and sanitizers to protect them from the corona.
This awareness campaign was conducted under the leadership of RTA Board Member of N. 24 Parganas Priyangu Pandey. During this hour-long campaign, bus-auto drivers, conductors as well as passengers were requested to be alert by distributing masks and sanitizers. To make this awareness campaign a success, INTTUC’s North 24 Parganas district president Tapas Das Gupta also collaborated.
During the program, RTA member and Trinamool Congress leader Priyangu Pandey said that apart from Barasat, awareness programs will be organized by the RTA N. 24 Parganas across the district including Basirhat, Barrackpore, and Bangaon, so that Bengal can be made corona free as soon as possible. In the current pandemic situation, there is a dire need to be aware while traveling in public transport (bus, auto, etc.).
Wearing a mask is mandatory to avoid infection. Also, hands have to be sanitized. On the initiative of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding road safety, the ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ campaign running across the state is continuously gaining success. Now with her inspiration, a continuous awareness campaign is being run to fight the coronavirus.
