This Environment Day, Keventer Agro Pledges To Reduce Carbon Footprint By 75% In Next Five Years

The outbreak of Covid-19 has again given us a strong reminder of the importance of putting nature first and taking proactive measures to combat climate change. While the medical experts are still in search of a vaccine for Covid-19, the world is talking about the importance of adopting environment friendly measures to avoid a repeat of such a pandemic in the future. Keventer Agro, one of the fastest growing Food & Beverage companies in Eastern India, today marked the World Environment Day announcing their commitment to reduce carbon footprint by 75% by the year 2025.

Taking a decisive step towards a green future, Keventer Agro commissioned eastern India’s largest rooftop solar plant at their Barasat unit in West Bengal recently. The 2.15 MW project is expected to yield 2.835 million units of energy while offsetting 2647 metric tonne carbon emission annually. Spread over Two Lakh square feet (2, 00,173 Sq. Feet), this is eastern India’s largest installation of rooftop solar panel.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mayank Jalan, CMD, Keventer Agro said, “At Keventer Agro, our motto is Enriching lives, everyday. We believe this can be achieved in its truest form only if we take care of our environment as well. Much before Covid-19 hit us and it became regarded as nature’s way of taking revenge on mankind, we had envisioned a plan to reduce our greenhouse gas footprint by 75% by 2025 and use renewable energy as much as possible. As a large and responsible food company, we take this pledge today to adopt sustainable business practices to tread a path towards carbon neutrality.”
