The Indian textile industry, one of the oldest and most significant sectors of the economy, is experiencing a remarkable resurgence. It has been weaving quite a success story lately, and it’s heartening to see the government’s commitment to its growth. This revival is fueled by a series of strategic initiatives and policies implemented by the government, aimed at bolstering growth, fostering innovation, and enhancing global competitiveness. Some of the key initiatives that are propelling this positive momentum are ‘Make in India’, ‘Circularity in Textiles’, ‘Zero Effect, Zero Defect’, ‘PM MITRA Parks’, and several other schemes.
These efforts are building strong momentum for the industry players and have created an optimistic outlook for the long run, despite global economic shifts. Anticipating a boost in the manufacturing sector and the signing of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), along with the recent growth in textile exports, bundled with the Indian government’s focus on making India a ‘global manufacturing hub’ and India’s ambitious target of reaching USD 350 billion in the textile and apparel segment by 2030 at a CAGR of 10%, with exports expected to reach USD 100 billion, set encouraging prospects for the entire textile value chain. Government has made a roadmap to promote technical fiber and Geo textile, which is providing huge options for growth.
