Since 2017, the university has experienced significant transformation both in its infrastructure and academic offerings. The construction of the second academic building is nearing completion and will feature modern classrooms, laboratories, a library, and a moot court, among other facilities. The university has invested approximately Rs.550 crores in infrastructural development. The new auditorium will have a capacity of around 2000 individuals, while two smaller auditoriums will accommodate 600 and 300 individuals, respectively. Additionally, the university plans to establish an MDP Block with 75 rooms, including suites for VIP guests. To promote student participation in sports, the university is also considering the construction of two swimming pools, where students will receive proper training to develop their swimming skills. Starting in 2026, the university will introduce a B.Tech. program, with an M.Tech. course to follow in due course.
The university is also expanding its offerings to include a variety of programs such as Integrated MBA, Integrated B.Ed., a School of Design, a School of Nursing, and a medical college. The Executive MBA program is drawing interest from numerous students in the corporate sector. Furthermore, the university is contemplating the introduction of an Executive MBA in a blended format, as well as a new MBA program in Hospital Management to address the evolving needs for skilled executives in the effective and efficient management of hospitals.
The NAAC accreditation under the new scheme is set for 2026. The University is currently preparing the necessary documents in accordance with the 10 criteria of binary NAAC, which were discussed during the seminar organized by NAAC. In light of this, the University has successfully completed its 6th Academic and Administrative Audit in November 2025 to assess its readiness. The recommendations provided by external experts are being taken into account to address the challenges anticipated for the upcoming audit. The AI-Powered Learning Management System (LMS) is currently being implemented at the University to adapt to the advancements in Artificial Intelligence. St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata, is the first institution in Eastern India to adopt this innovative teaching and learning tool for the advantage of both students and faculty members. The University has formed a partnership with Shiksak, a UK-based organization. Furthermore, it is aligning with SXUK’s ambitious ‘Vision 2030’ goal of achieving 10,000 enrolments. The AI-powered LMS platform equips SXUK with resources for assignment management, online testing, and content management, enabling educators to concentrate on student success. Certificate and Diploma courses are also set to be introduced for working professionals and students who wish to enhance their professional knowledge and skills. Additionally, the University has begun the search for a new site for the nursing and medical college. They are awaiting discussions with the state government. It has been indicated that they will initially establish a nursing college for both male and female students, followed by the development of a medical college.
