Recently, S.M. Group announced the expansion plan in a press conference. Mr Manish Khemka, Chairman & Managing Director, SM Group was present on the occasion. Other important members of S.M. Group, Mr. Neel Mani Singh, VP Business Development; Mr. Vikramjeet Singh, VP Marketing & Sales and Mr. Arindam Pramanik, GM Marketing & Sales were also present in the press meet. Launch of TMT Bar, GOVVINDA was also announced in the event.
S.M. Group is one of the Leading Exporter, Importer of Minerals & Ores and Steel manufacturer today, with its corporate office at Kolkata (West Bengal), and plant located at Jamshedpur (Jharkhand). Starting with its Core Competency business in Exports & Mining, it has now diversified into various areas. Expanding from its existing set up, the Group came up with its own DRI Unit, SMS Unit, Continuous Billet Casting Mill & Fully Automated Rolling Mill Powered by its in-house Captive Power Plant which runs with rejected coal and waste heat from DRI hence minimizing the carbon footprint and ensuring uninterrupted power supply for production. It has received ISO – 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certification.
“Currently we are in a production of 600 ton per day of sponge iron which we aim to increase to 1200 ton by April and 1800 ton by December with 50mgwt power grid. In future we are also planning to set up a plant in Purulia, West Bengal and Jharkhand, we are in search of a proper land with water and railway facilities. It’s easier for us to bring in a rakes, otherwise logistics is a big problem allover lndia all knows. Further in that plant we would like to increase our production capacity to approximately 1lac tons per month with a captive pallet turn of 3million tons and 600*6 TPD Kilns. Since we are importing coal on our own it becomes much easier for us to increase the production capacity and achieve our goals. In these difficult times of Covid it’s been very tough time for us to get started on time but I am thankful to my men for completing the assignments on time. Right now we have 1000 employees. But once we start another plant we can increase direct employee to 4000. Our investment plan is approx Rs. 2000 – 2500 crores for the project. We are looking for approximately 500 acres land for this project,” said Mr Manish Khemka, Chairman & Managing Director, S.M. Group.
