Shadows of Songs : landscape of dreams, poetry and music

 

Debojyoti Mishra a distinguished musician and music director, is not a trained art practitioner  but a passionate artist given to experimenting with diverse mediums and styles. Mishra composes an allegory and an aria that is deeply personal in its narrative in his exhibition, titled “Shadows of Songs”.  He has used human migration as one of the predominant topics of his paintings. Liberation of Music and human faces is commonly found in his works. This exhibition  featured his 130 paintings and five installations.

The exhibition is happening at Harrington Street Centre from August 30 till September 8, 2019. The inauguration of the exhibition took place in presence of Tanushree Shankar(Eminent dancer and choreographer), Kamaleshwar Mukherjee (Film director), Anik Dutta (Veteran Filmmaker and Producer), Atanu Ghosh Filmmaker, Rupam Islam (Indian playback singer) & Other eminent personalities.

As the painter in Mishra progressed and evolved, art curator Jyotirmoy Bhattacharya came forward to showcase these paintings to the world. Debojyoti’s last premier art exhibition in collaboration with ICCR was held in the year 2012 which garnered widespread appreciation and applause from both the luminaries and masses and all the paintings were sold in record time. In Debojyti Mishra’s words, “Songs that I cannot score, I paint them in my images”. About Debojyoti Mishra: Debojyoti Mishra is an Indian born musician is a passionate composer-arranger with an intense intellectual distinction. His musical promenade across compositional genres has not only fetched international accolades and overwhelming appreciation among connoisseurs. A musician, whose music truly transcends boundaries, Mishra has been the musical soul of directorial deliveries of internationally acclaimed and nationally celebrated filmmakers in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh…..the list is ever growing. Apart from being a renowned musician, Debojyoti Mishra is an established artist in his own right. When Debojyoti Mishra picked up the paintbrush, it touched chords. As the painter in Mishra progressed and evolved, art curator Jyotirmoy Bhattacharya came forward to showcase these paintings to the world. Debojyoti’s premier art exhibition in collaboration with ICCR from 7 December 2012 – 14 December 2012 garnered widespread appreciation and applause from both the luminaries and masses and all the paintings were sold in record time. Soon Mirage Art Gallery, Kolkata exhibited Debojyoti’s paintings alongside the paintings of masters Akbar Padamsee, M F Hussain, Jogen Chowdhury, Paritosh Sen, Ganesh Pyne and other eminent artists.
