Photo exhibition on cave art
Cave paintings are oldest form of wall art or simply ‘art’ known to humankind made by the early men with crude tools and natural colours to depict their daily life. Central India in particular has emerged as a hub for rich rock art heritage, boasting of several significant upper paleolithic rock art sites. These sites have been instrumental in unraveling the evolution of human artistic endeavours and cultural practices over the millennia. They provide evidence of the presence of early humans in the Indian subcontinent, serving as a testament to their creativity and cultural heritage.
A first-of-its-kind photo exhibition showcasing the beauty of caves of India titled CAVE-ART by eminent photographer Anupam Halder was inaugurated at Academy Of Fine Arts, Kolkata. Singer Nachiketa Chakraborty, actress Moubani Sorcar, actress Sonali Chowdhury, actress-model Paramita Banerjee, journalist Ritwik Mukherjee, producer Kunal Saha, and Secretary of Calcutta Journalist Club Iman Kalyan Sen graced the inauguration ceremony.
