Orchids The International School becomes the first school to celebrate ‘Rath Yatra’ in Kolkata

Students of Orchids The International School, a leading chain of K12 schools in India, successfully celebrated the auspicious festival Rath Yatra for the first time in Kolkata. Students from Grades 1 to 2 actively participated in creating a grand rath (chariot), symbolizing a remarkable display of creativity, teamwork and cultural appreciation.

In a remarkable display of artistic talent and ingenuity, the young students at Orchids The International School took up the challenge of constructing the rath themselves as a part of their DIY (Do-it-yourself) curriculum. This engaging project spanned four days, allowing students to explore their imagination and learn valuable skills while preparing for the grand celebration.

On 28th June, enthusiastic students pulled the beautifully crafted rath across the school playground and corridors. The resounding cheers and excitement filled the air as the rath made its way through the school premises, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of our country. The event showcased the school’s commitment to providing a holistic education that fosters academic excellence and a deep understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures.

Sharmili Shah, the Principal of Orchids The International School, stated, “We are thrilled to have celebrated Rath Yatra for the first time at Orchids The International School in Kolkata. The DIY curriculum allowed our students to showcase their creativity and problem-solving skills while imbibing the values and traditions associated with the auspicious festival. We believe that such events play a crucial role in inculcating cultural values in students and encouraging them to appreciate and respect the cultural heritage of our country. Such activities help us foster cultural awareness and create a joyful learning environment amongst students.”
