Kolkata’s Shree Shiddhivinayak Devasthanam Mandir witnesses huge crowd in Ganesh Chaturthi celebration
Gone are those days of routing towards Maharashtra in Ganesh Chaturthi. The City of Joy has got its own Shree Shiddhivinayak Temple, a unique 360 degree temple, adding a fine feather to the diverse culture and legacy of the country. The history of the Devasthanam is no less interesting. Two Childhood best friends, Radheshyam Agarwal and Radheshyam Goenka, buy about 200 years old Mallick Kothi of Barabazar, from which they had made their dreams come true while starting their industrial journey.
As a memorandum of gratitude, the two friends decided to dedicate the building of Muktaram Babu Street, for the purpose of public welfare, at the feet of Shri Siddhivinayak. Just before covid, on Friday, 28 February 2020, the Devasthanam was offered at the feet of Lord Siddhivinayak. Kolkata’s Shiddhivinayak Temple believes in working for the people. At present, several courses are being run by the Mandir Management including Tally and GST courses, advanced beauty therapy,advanced apparel designing and spoken English. All courses are supervised by industry experts. The Mandir fraternity also offers healthcare facilities at affordable rate including pathology tests. In fact, throughout the year, there is provision of free blood sugar tests for everyone. EECP treatment for heart is also available here. For diabetic ailments concerning eye and feet, the infrastructure available here is no less than any other healthcare facility. Acupuncture camps are conducted for pain relief of senior citizens.
One can only hope that Kolkata’s Shree Shiddhivinayak Devasthanam Mandir becomes a role model for all Temples around the world. The Mandir avoids using plastic products and has all provisions for the specially abled individuals. This year, on the occasion of the fourth Ganesh Chaturthi celebration, the Mandir witnessed huge turn out from all sectors of society, echoing ‘Ganapati Bappa Morya’.
