Madhabi Mukherjee and Gautam Ghose bestowed with Lifetime Achievement award
Legendary bengali actress Madhabi Mukherjee was honoured with Hiralal Sen Lifetime Achievement award.Known to be one of the favourites of legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray, she has acted in several critically acclaimed Bengali films, including ‘Charulata’. She has shared screen with Soumitra Chatterjee and Uttam Kumar, luminaries of Bengali cinema. Some of her well-known films are Mrinal Sen’s ‘Baishey Shravana’, Ritwik Ghatak’s ‘Subarnarekha’, and Ray’s ‘Mahanagar’ and ‘Kapurush’.
Renowned filmmaker Gautam Ghose was honoured with Debaki Kumar Bose Lifetime Achievement Award. He is the only Indian to have won the Vittorio Di Sica award from Italy and also an awardee of the Knighthood of the Star of the Italian Solidaritry. Has made significant feature films in Bengali and Hindi, notably Paar, Padma Nadir Majhi, Kaalbela and Moner Manush. Has also made a number of prominent documentaries including New Earth, Meeting a Milestone (on Ustad Bismillah Khan), Impermanence (on H H Dalai Lama), Ray (on Satyajit Ray) and Beyond the Himalayas.
The award ceremony was organised by Bengal Film and Television Chamber of Commerce.
Apart from these two, Bengal Film and Television Chamber of Commerce also acknowledged Sardar Surinder Singh with B. N. Sircar Lifetime Achievement Award, Sri NirmalDhar (Senior Journalist) with Kalish Mukherjee Lifetime Achievement Award and JanabIlliasKanchan from Bangladesh with Raj Rajjak Lifetime Achievement Award with for their invaluable contribution.
The ceremony was attended by notable personalities such as Gargee Roy Chowdhury, Anik Datta, Debojyoti Misra, Jaya Seal Ghosh, Ranjit Mullick, M.A. Alamgir (Bangladesh), Firdausul Hasan and many more from film and television industry.
