Low fees, transparency and simple investment are the key points of passive investment

Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) on Friday has organised a relevant session on the ongoing rush to passive investment among people. During the session Mr. Indranath Chatterjee, Executive Director (F&A) of WBPDCL. Mr. Umesh Kumar Daila, Head – ETF Sales, Mirae Asset Mutual Fund and Mr. Atanu Sen, Chairman of ICC National Expert Committee – BFSI were present among the dignitaries.

Passive management is an investing strategy that tracks a market-weighted index or portfolio. This is most common in the equity market, where index funds track a stock market index, but it is becoming more common in other investment types, including bonds, commodities and hedge funds.

Mr. Indranath Chatterjee, Executive Director (F&A) of WBPDCL mentioned, “In 2020 there were a total of 332 companies where they were provided with special loans worth 3 trillion USD. RBI now allows people to invest directly in the sovereign bond market. Though the debt market is not a free market. Having said that, we all should also invest in our mental and physical wellbeing which is one of the biggest assets in our lives.”

Mr. Atanu Sen, Chairman of ICC National Expert Committee has said, “Time and diversification are the main points of the seminar. Maintaining a well-diversified portfolio is very important here. Low fees, transparency and simple investment are the key points of passive investment.”
