On the eve of the death anniversary of the great Bengali poet, musician, revolutionary and philosopher Kazi Nazrul Islam, Nazrul Centre for Social & Cultural Studies (Kazi Nazrul University), organised an event at the Calcutta Press Club which witnessed the launch of the book named , ‘Shato Kabitay Kazi Nazrul Islam’ a book contains of 100 poems written by Kazi Nazrul Islam, edited by Professor Sumita Chakrabarti
This book launch was graced by the presence of Honourable Deputy High Commissioner, Bangladesh, Toufique Hasan; Professor Sadhan Chakraborti. Honourable Vice Chancellor, Kazi Nazrul University; Kalyani Kazi; daughter- in- law of the great poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, Professor Sumita Chakrabarti, Dr. Subodh Sarkar and other dignitaries. This book is the compilation of altogether 80 poems and 20 songs penned by the famous litterateur during the 19th century.
Unlike the usual kinds, these writings are few of the most unknown, hidden treasures that failed to come into recognition, piled by the popular poems of the poet. This book introduces its readers to the lost world of those hidden treasures.
The book launch programme was followed by a felicitation ceremony and speech by the distinguished guests present at the occasion.
