Kolkata’s first ever marathon for the students of Government Schools

Super Shakti Foundation collaborates with Sreejak Society For Human Development to host Kolkata’s inaugural a marathon exclusively for the students of Government Schools in Kolkata. Christened “RUN= RISE UP NOW”, This is the first ever marathon for the Government Schools in Kolkata . The overarching theme is  Go Green Kolkata  that will run as the leitmotif throughout the marathon. 

At a formal function held  in  Mr. Sitaram Agarwal, Chairman Super Smelters Limited, officialy flagged off the marathon in presence of  Mr. GK Sharan, Chief Mentor Sai Group, Siddhartha Sankar Roy (Sidhu), singer and founder of cactus bangla band, Mr. Ishant Jainn, CSR Head Sai Group .

More than 200 participants from 12 Government schools enthusiastically took part in the 1.5 km marathon commencing from the Victorial Gate and weaving through Red Road and other locations before concluding at Exide Bus Stop. Students from various schools including < 1) Childrens Welfare Association High School For Girls(H. (2) VIP NAGAR HIGH SCHOOL (H.S) (10) (3) Tiljala High School (4) TOLLYGUNGE GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL (5) TILJALA BALIKA VIDYALAYA , (6) KASBA CHITTARANJAN HIGH SCHOOL (7) SANTOSHPUR RISHI AUROBINDO BALIKA VIDYAPITH (8) Charankabi Mukunda Das High school  showcased the spirit. Notably  Students from  class IX and Class X actively participated in the marathon. Super Shakti Foundation generously supported this marathon making  it free for all and thus keeping it accessible to all interested students made this marathon absolutely free to encourage more students to participate in the marathon.

Speaking on the occasion , Mr. Sitaram Agarwal , Chairman , Super Smelters Ltd said,  “ This marks the pioneering effort for Government-run school students in Kolkata. We aimed to inspire and raise awareness among children about climate protection and sustainability. Our plant urgently requires more green cover and awareness is the catalyst for effective change. We aspire to transform this into an annual event to strengthen the campaign for safeguarding our mother earth. We hope the kids will take more proactive action and undertake greening initiatives”,
