KOLKATA THUNDERBOLTS AT JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY

Kolkata Thunderbolts immersed itself completely amongst the students of Jadavpur University through the first ever festival of the Mass Communications and Journalism department, Kolkata Thunderbolts presents Med Gala’22. In the power packed two-day festival, the students organized 10 separate contests and events with a participation of more than 500 students overall. The entire Jadavpur University campus was covered with excitement and zeal right from the onset of the inauguration ceremony. Mr. Pawan Kumar Patodia, Chairman & Co-Owner of Kolkata Thunderbolts appeared as the chief guest for the opening ceremony and addressed the entire student body endorsing such an event that brings students from different colleges together and helps them grow their personal and professional skills.

In order to increase engagement with the student community, Kolkata Thunderbolts held a pitching competition, ‘Pitch-Astra’, to hear different ideas from students themselves on how Kolkata Thunderbolts can better their reach amongst Gen Z members of the society. The coveted first place in this event included a cash prize as well as an internship opportunity with Kolkata Thunderbolts as a management intern. The star-studded judges’ panel featured the Chairman of Kolkata Thunderbolts Mr. Pawan Patodia himself, along with Team Director – Sumedh Patodia, MD of Kreative Machinez – Mr. Pramod Maloo, ED of Techno India Group – Mr. Meghdut Roy Chowdhury, and Co-Founders of Calcutta Cacophony – Rishi Raj Ghosh and Ankita Chakraborty. Through the three-hour event, the judges interacted extensively with the teams, helping them fine tune their marketing ideas. Team SXUK Thunderbolts from St. Xavier’s University emerged as the winners, with their well thought out 360-degree pitch. The students – Aranyak Mojumder, Maliha Siddiqui and Pratasi Sardar have been invited to a 6-week internship program at Kolkata Thunderbolts.

The event concluded with an address from both Mr. Pawan Kumar Patodia and Mr. Meghdut Roy Chowdhury for the attendees, drawing from their rich experiences to guide the students as they embark upon their professional careers. “I am highly impressed by the remarkable performance of the participating teams, and I have a lot to take away from today’s event. I would like to announce that the students today have inspired me to spend more time with the student community of our society, and thus as the Chairman of Kolkata Thunderbolts, I promise our association in all future events of Jadavpur University. Furthermore, we announce an internship for all those who are interested from any other college as well for a paid internship at Kolkata Thunderbolts for 6 weeks starting in December 2022. I look forward to meeting and interacting with many more of you!”, said Mr. Pawan Kumar Patodia in his address.
