Kiran Bedi urges for nationwide mobilization of civil defence to assist in counter-terrorism efforts

On Wednesday, Kiran Bedi, a former high-ranking police officer, called for the swift activation of a nationwide Civil Defence initiative to support police forces in their grassroots counter-terrorism efforts. Her statement, which followed the recent Delhi blast that resulted in 12 casualties, was made while addressing the Calcutta Chamber of Commerce Ladies Forum on the topic of women’s empowerment.

Bedi described Civil Defence as an “untapped potential that is ready to be utilized”, asserting that with more effective implementation, this system could serve as a true national framework to bolster preventive security measures.
