ITSEWA, WB Unit Celebrates the 135th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, provides financial assistance to underprivileged communities

Income tax SC / ST / OBC Employees welfare association (ITSEWA). WB Unit commemorated the 135th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. Popularly known as Babasaheb, Dr. Ambedkar was a jurist, economist, social reformer, and the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, whose legacy continues to shape the nation’s democratic values.

On this occasion, a special discussion meeting was convened at the Income Tax Building in Kolkata. Surabhi Varma Garg, I.R.S, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, West Bengal & Sikkim attended as the chief guest. The event featured speakers such as retired professor from the University of Calcutta, Dr. Rajagopal Dhar Chakraborty, and associate professor at Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College and esteemed writer, Dr. Sudhakar Sardar. They explored various facets of Dr. Ambedkar’s life and philosophy.

The President of the Association, Sanjay I. Bara, along with General Secretary, Sudip Majumdar, stated that the primary objective of the program is to foster social unity by adhering to the principles of Babasaheb Ambedkar. Officers and staff from the Income Tax Department actively participated, contributing to the program’s success. In addition to the discussion, the organization engaged in social service initiatives. Financial assistance was provided to Hariguru Chand Mission in Sandeshkhali and Sidho Kanho Birsha Guro Gomke Mission School in Purulia.
