IIT Kharagpur, Government of Tripura and Senrysa Technologies Sign Tripartite MoU to establish Centre of Excellence & Innovation Hub

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, the Department of Information Technology, Government of Tripura, and Senrysa Technologies Limited have signed a landmark Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a Centre of Excellence & Innovation Hub in Tripura. The initiative aims to strengthen the technology and innovation ecosystem in the North Eastern Region by fostering research, entrepreneurship, skill development and industry-academia collaboration. The MoU was signed during the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026, marking a significant step towards creating a collaborative platform that brings together academia, government and industry to accelerate technology-led growth and knowledge-driven development in the State. The agreement was signed by Director, IIT Kharagpur, Prof. Suman Chakraborty, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Senrysa Technologies Limited, Shri Kumar P. Saha and Director, Information Technology, Government of Tripura, Shri Jeya Ragul Geshan B. The exchange of the agreement took place in presence of Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India, Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran, Chief Secretary, Government of Tripura, Shri Jitendra Kumar Sinha, IAS, Secretary, Industries & Commerce and Information Technology, Government of Tripura, Shri Kiran Gitte, IAS, and other dignitaries.

The proposed Centre of Excellence & Innovation Hub will serve as a platform for promoting next-generation education, advanced research, responsible Artificial Intelligence, deep technology, digital transformation, startup incubation, entrepreneurship development and industry-driven innovation. The Centre is envisioned to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial application while nurturing a robust technology ecosystem in Tripura and the wider North Eastern Region. The collaboration will also leverage the academic and research excellence of IIT Kharagpur, the policy support of the Government of Tripura and the technological expertise of Senrysa Technologies Limited to create sustainable opportunities for students, researchers, startups, entrepreneurs and industry professionals. Besides, the Centre will facilitate interdisciplinary research and innovation in emerging technologies, particularly in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, deep technology and digital transformation. It will also focus on specialised training, industry engagement, capacity building and collaborative research to strengthen the skilled technology workforce required for the rapidly evolving digital economy. A major objective of the initiative is to promote innovation-driven entrepreneurship by providing startups with incubation support, mentorship, technical expertise and stronger academia-industry linkages. The Centre aims to encourage the development of scalable technology solutions that address emerging societal and industrial challenges while contributing to sustainable economic growth.

The partnership is also a testimony to a shared commitment to ensuring that advancements in Artificial Intelligence and frontier technologies are developed responsibly and contribute meaningfully to public welfare, innovation and inclusive development. On the occasion, IIT Kharagpur expressed gratitude to Chief Minister of Tripura Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha for his visionary leadership in positioning Tripura as an emerging destination for technology, innovation and knowledge-driven development. The Institute also acknowledged the continued support of Hon’ble Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) in promoting innovation and sustainable growth across the Northeast. The establishment of the Centre of Excellence & Innovation Hub marks an important milestone in strengthening academia-government-industry partnerships and is expected to significantly contribute to research, entrepreneurship, innovation and technology-enabled development in Tripura and the North Eastern Region.
