The Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM), India’s first business school, today announced that it will organize the PSM Leadership & Infra Summit on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, at the IISWBM Premises, Management House, College Square (West), Kolkata. The Summit, themed “Reviving Kolkata and West Bengal — Industrialization and Reforms” and carrying the tagline “Vikshit Bengal — Leading the Next Transformation,” is being organized by IISWBM in association with Climate24,the first green portal and consultancy network of eastern India..
The announcement was made at a press conference held this afternoon at the Press Club, Kolkata, where IISWBM also shared updates on its flagship MBA in Public Systems Management (MBA-PS) programme, including an extended admission deadline and the institute’s placement performance for the current cycle.
A High-Level Platform for Bengal’s Industrial Revival
The Summit will bring together the political and administrative leadership of the Government of West Bengal, senior executives from banking, energy and industry, and academia on a single platform to discuss what it will take to revive Kolkata and West Bengal as a centre of industry, enterprise and good governance. The dialogue is structured around three propositions: that industrial revival is a systems problem requiring simultaneous progress on land, power, logistics, finance, skilling and regulation; that reforms must be executable rather than merely announced; and that public systems require a deliberately built pipeline of professional leadership.
Dignitaries invited to the Summit include Smt. Agnimitra Paul, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and Minister-in-Charge, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs; Shri Tapas Roy, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Industry, Commerce and Enterprises; Dr. Swapan Dasgupta, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Finance; Shri Manoj Oraon, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Forest and Environment; and Dr. Sharadwat Mukherjee, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal. Also invited are Shri Priyatu Mondal, IAS, Joint Secretary & Director, SPM NIWAS, Ministry of Jal Shakti; senior representatives from the State Bank of India’s Bengal Circle, Bengal Gas Limited, Bandhan Bank, Peerless Group and Exide Industries Limited; and industry leaders including Shri Tamal Chakravorty and Shri Goutam Roy. The list of dignitaries remains indicative and subject to confirmation closer to the event.
The Summit’s agenda includes a Ministerial Plenary on industrialization and reform, followed by dedicated panels on public systems governance and citizen-centric delivery, financing Bengal’s growth, and energy, environment and sustainable industrialization, with journalist Shri Ritwik Mukherjee, Business Editor of The Statesman, moderating discussions.
Summit to Double as Induction of MBA-PS 34th Batch
The Summit will also serve as the formal induction ceremony for the 34th Batch of IISWBM’s MBA in Public Systems Management programme — a specialized, socially-oriented programme offered since 1993 across four verticals: Energy Management, Environment Management, Healthcare & Hospital Management, and Transportation & Logistics Management. Incoming students will be inducted in the presence of the ministers, regulators, bankers and industry leaders participating in the Summit, linking their two-year academic journey directly to the governance and industrial challenges under discussion.
73 Years of Legacy, Extended Admissions and Strong Placements
At today’s briefing, IISWBM leadership positioned the institute’s 73-year legacy as India’s first business school, and announced that admissions to the MBA-PS programme for the current cycle have been extended to 31 July 2026. The institute also highlighted a highest placement package of INR 20 LPA achieved this year, underscoring continued industry demand for specialized public systems managers.
