Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Ministry of Culture in association with Hindiustani Bhasha Akademi under ‘Hindi Pakhwara’ held a daylong event in honour of Hindi. The program was held at ‘Samvet’ auditorium, Janpath, New Delhi. The guests of the first session of the event were Dr. Sachidanand Joshi, Member Secretary, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Anand Kumar Sharma Deputy Commissioner, Delhi Police, Balendu Sharma Dadich, Director- Local Languages & Accessibility at Microsoft and Dr. Laxmi Shankar Bajpeyi, Former Additional Director General , All India Radio.
Speaking at the event Dr. Sachidanand Joshi said Hindi in contemporary times has attained the status of global language. Talking at the event he encouraged the youth to take up proper research and reading in Hindi. He further reiterated on proper usage of our mother tongue ‘Hindi’ and emphasized on correct and proper usage of the language. Anand Kumar Mishra talked about his personal experience at school when he feared speaking in English as he did not know the language and later his message was that one should never feel inhibited in one’s own identity andlanguage. Speaking at the occasion Balendu Sharma Dadich, said that we should use language in advancement of technology and he uses the same thought in practice at Microsoft.
In the second session of the event held under “Hindi Pakhwada” there was a speech contest held in which large number of students from various colleges of ‘University of Delhi’ participated. The broad theme under which this contest was held was “ RashtriyaAkahandtamein Hindi kaYogdan”. The students participated with great enthusiasm and zeal and it could be said that Hindi and other Indian languages and culture are in safe hands. The first, second and third prize went to Vishakha, Abhiyudai Kumar and Manish Kumar Jha. The consolation prizes were given to Anjali, Priyanshi, Shradha, Alka, Divya, Jayanti Mishra, Divesh Chandra.
