To commemorate the upcoming birth centenary year of its founder Shri Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar, the Kolkata branch of Renaissance Artists’ and Writers’ Association(RAWA) has decided to hold a grand Prabhat Samgiit singing competition. To elaborate on the competition and create awareness, members of the Grand Prabhat Samgiit Festival (GPSF) 2022 committee today held a press conference at Press Club today. Registrations for the competition will start on 15th of Dec 2021 and will continue till 10th March 2022, while auditions for the same will start on 15th Feb 2022 and finish on 15th March 2022. During the auditions Rabindra Samgiit, Nazrul geeti, and various other Bengali, Hindi or Sanskrit devotional songs can be sung by the contestant to prove their singing talent.
Age groups have been divided into junior and senior for the competition; ages 7 to 70 can be participants for the same. There will be three more rounds after the auditions – qualifier, pre-final and final for the contestants which will be followed by an impressive awards ceremony on the 8th of May 2022 which will be graced by notable names from the music industry.The finale of the competition would be adjudged by noted singers Srimati Haimanti Shukla, Srimati Sriradha Bandopadhyay and Sri Monomoy Bhattacharya.Moreover, 1st prize winner from the junior group will be winning Rs. 50,000 and senior group winner will be receiving an award of Rs. 100,000 at the end of competition. To encourage singers, cashprizes will be awarded in pre-final stages as well. RAWA expects many talented singers and music lovers of West Bengal and neighboring states will participate and a mass awareness of the significance of Prabhat Samgiit will be created through this endeavor.Contestants interested can visit www.rawakolkata.org and enroll for the competition by paying a donation of Rs.250.
