Film festival is no less than the Durga Puja for the cinephiles in the city.Film festivals give an opportunity to fans who don’t want to miss out on good cinema in other regional languages and from worldwide.Calcutta International Film festival has brought an eclectic selection of contemporary and critically acclaimed films for its first monthly screening. It has turned out to be big success with the participation of delegates and film enthusiasts.
Organizers were excited about the audience’s refined taste and interest in cinema.Sandip Pratihar, Director & Creative Head said “We are overjoyed with the number of film submissions we received. We have received submissions from over 30 countries around the world in different categories. After a long screening process, our honorable jury members have chosen 8 films from different categories to be screened today.”
He added,”Each month, CIFF will screen monthly winning projects so that your projects can get their deserved appreciation from cinephiles and reach the masses. The ‘monthly edition award winners’ of CIFF in different categories will automatically enter the ‘Best of the Year”competition as Annual Official Selections and the winner will be announced during the Annual Gala Award Event.”
