First Edition Of Kolkata International Drum Festival kicks off on a high note

 

In the vibrant cultural city Kolkata, one event stood out  yesterday as a celebration of rhythm, talent, and creativity was the Kolkata International Drum Festival. A rhythmic journey, where drumming virtuosos converged to showcase their artistry, inspire audiences, and shape the future of drumming excellence.

Organized by E365 India Pvt Ltd and Tabla and percussion experts Pandit Subhen Chatterjee and Sambit Chatterjee  this extravaganza brought together drummers, musicians, and enthusiasts from across for an immersive experience. Kolkata was treated to an incredible evening of rhythmic brilliance and diverse musical abilities, culminating in an unmatched symphony that rang through every beat.

 

From virtuosic displays of speed and precision to soul-stirring expressions of emotion,  artists showcased the true power of rhythmic mastery. With diverse genres and styles represented, attendees were treated to an auditory feast that traverses the vast landscape of drumming, inspiring both seasoned musicians and curious listeners alike.

The mesmerizing performance by Karma Bandish Fusion, led by Pandit Subhen Chatterjee, showcased a seamless blend of musical talent. Shri Suvam Moitra’s guitar mastery, Shri Somnath Roy’s rhythmic brilliance on Ghatam, and the contributions of other talented musicians created a musical extravaganza that left an indelible mark on the audience.

The participation of esteemed artists, including Ranjit Barrot, acclaimed percussionists like Gino Banks, Viveick Rajagopalan, Darshan Doshi, and Gaurab Chatterjee, were the major highlight of the evening. Each musician brought their own flair to the stage.

“Our vision for the festival was to emphasize on the importance of engaging the younger generation with the senior pros of India’s rich percussion industry. The event marked the country’s first-ever convergence of tribal drummers, beatboxers, drum kit players, tabla players and percussions, uniting diverse communities and generations on a singular stage”, said Mr. Kinjal Bhattacharya, Founder & CEO, E365 India Pvt Ltd.

The inaugural edition of Kolkata International Drum Festival set a pattern for future gatherings, bringing the values of communal drumming and music sharing with guest performances by the Dhamsha Madol Players and Vox Box.
