Financial Assistance for Veteran Film Artists & Technicians

 P. C. Chandra Group, the leading business house from East India, in association with Eastern India Cinetel Welfare Trust, organized the 10th edition of their CSR programme PC Chandra Tribute to offer financial support to eleven yesteryears’ film personalities & technicians from the Bengali film industry. Veteran Actor Shri. Kharaj Mukherjee was the chief guests for this momentous ceremony along with Shri Uday Kumar Chandra, Managing Director, P.C. Chandra Jewellers.

This programme is aimed at extending a hand to those forgotten talents of Bengali film and entertainment industry who have made enormous contribution to Bengali Cinema which include actors, technicians and people behind the curtains. This is a small contribution – a token of gratitude and appreciation for the work that these personalities have done in their prime years. It is a privilege for the P C Chandra Group to have the opportunity to recognize the role of the people who have contributed to creating the magic of cinema. This year’s recipient list includes names like actor Director-Sujit Guha, Actor Tapati Bhattacharyya, Actor Rekha Bhattacharjee, Actor Kaberi Bhattacharya, Hair Stylist Usha Dey Bannerjee, Editor Atish Chandra Sarkar, Still Photographer Gouranga Mitra, Assistant Director Pradeep Kumar Das, Assistant Cameraperson Samidh Bose, Assistant Sound Recordist Sundar Sapui. The Group is providing Rs. 5000/- per month for 1 year to 10 artists / technicians /assistant director and Rs. 10,000/- per month to Shri Sujit Guha for a period of 1 year.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Uday Kumar Chandra, Managing Director, P.C. Chandra Jewellers said, “The PC Chandra Group TRIBUTE was initiated in 2013 in collaboration with The Eastern Cinetel Welfare Trust as a token of appreciation for the old and ailing personalities of Bengali Cinema. The Bengali film industry is our pride and has showcased great creative talents in the International World of entertainment. These actors and technicians have made their mark in the glory of Bengali Cinema in the past and this has enriched our lives but now they have fallen into difficult times and we, as a responsible Corporate, would like to stand with them and help them financially. “
