Fake Dr. Reddy’s drugs seized

This is to bring to your attention that the Malda District Police and the Directorate of Drug Administration West Bengal, conducted a raid on a semi-wholesaler on September 24, 2022. This was further to notification by Dr. Reddy’s of suspicious counterfeiting activity in the West Bengal region. The semi-wholesaler operates in medicines in the Malda region. Timely action from the police and drug control authorities ensured that the people involved were caught red-handed selling and distributing counterfeits of Dr. Reddy’s products.


The police have arrested the owner and accomplices. The authorities are investigating the matter further, including critically examining the involvement of the wholesaler in a bigger counterfeit drug syndicate. A case no. 1459 of 2022 dated 24.09.2022 under Sections 420/465/468/274/275/486 read with Sections 34 / 120(B) of the Indian Penal Code read with Section 27 of the Drugs And Cosmetics Act, 1940, Section 115 (4) of the Trademarks Act 1999, and Section 63 and Section 65 of the Copyright Act, 1957 has been registered.
