Exhibition and Seminar on “Imprints of Indian Culture in Vietnam”

To mark the 133rd Birth Anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh and International Museum day, Indo- Vietnam Solidarity Committee in collaboration with Indian Museum, Kolkata, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India have organized a photo Exhibition and Seminar on “Imprints of Indian Culture in Vietnam” on 18th May 2023 from 9.30 am to 01.30 pm.

 

His Excellency the Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal H.E. Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose has kindly consented to address the seminar as Chief Guest of Honour. His Excellency the Hon’ble Ambassador of S.R. Vietnam will address as a Guest of Honour on the occasion. Prof. Samir Kumar Das, Department of political Science, University of Calcutta will preside over the Seminar. Dr. Mrinal Kanti Chakma, Director, IBMR, Kolkata, Dr. Sakti Roy Chowdhury, Associate Professor of Sanskrit, South Calcutta Girls’ College, Mr. Goutam De, Former Regional Director, ICCR, Kolkata, Dr. Tilottama, Mukharjee, Assistant Professor,  and HOD, Department of Political Science, Shyama Prasad College, Kolkata  will address the seminar as hon’ble speakers.

 

Our relations are deeply rooted in our history. Cham and Buddhist cultures bear testimony to our rich cultural inter- linkages since historic times. In the modern era, our bilateral relations grew by leaps and bounds through mutual diplomatic cooperation, exchanges and through people to people relations. The most important tenets of the bilateral relations to this day remain strategic partnership and people-to-people exchanges, besides building on their growing economic cooperation. This deep rooted friendship is being nurtured and promoted by our both the governments and marching towards stronger ties through many strategic commitments and people’s diplomacy. President Ho formulated the concept of People’s Diplomacy  and created a people centric  ‘Diplomatic Front’.

The mutual relations between India and Vietnam, the solid foundation of which in modern times, was laid by Ho Chi Minh and Jawaharlal Nehru, are based on certain values, mutual understanding, respect and also emotions. From Nehru to Modi, irrespective of party politics in India, Government and people of India always actively supported the cordial relations between the two countries. Full Diplomatic Relations between India and Vietnam that was established on 7th January 1972 was elevated to the level of ‘Strategic Partnership’ during the visit of Prime minister of Vietnam H.E. Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung to India in July 2007. This was further elevated to the level of ‘Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’ during the visit of Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi to Vietnam in September 2016.

Indo-Vietnam Solidarity Committee, a pioneer friendship Society with Vietnam, has a glorious journey since late sixties of more than five decades which is full of activities and events that   promoted people to people relations. It is committed to further strengthening people to people relations through culture for peace, friendship, cooperation.
