Speaking at the online seminar organized by Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) on ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat: Developing Entrepreneurship & Employability Skills,’ Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Education, Government of India said that India’s human resource is its wealth. The land of 130 crore population is brimming with talent. Only “jugalbandi” of talent with education needs to be established for India to become “Atmanirbhar.” He stressed that the New Education Policy is designed so that Indian students are updated with the latest world class knowledge and enriched with Swami Vivekananda’s ideology. Mr. Pokhriyal said that even under the pandemic, India did not cancel exams like JEE and NEET. India’s student populace is larger than the whole population of the US. India has successfully brought its students on online platform sans, depriving anyone of the pursuit of education under the pandemic. The webinar discussed how the NEP concentrates on nourishing the students’ minds in their vernacular, laying the base for a vocal for the local concept. Now students would have a chance to study medicine and engineering in their vernacular, brushing aside the fear of English as a second language.
Prof. Dr. C Raj Kumar, Founding Vice-Chancellor, O P Jindal Global University, said that all schools in India should become Atmanirbhar so that India can be a step ahead in the global map. He stressed that India could create world-class universities and globalize the current education system to the level of Ancient Taxila, which was renowned worldwide.
Mr. Pradip Agarwal, the CEO, Heritage Group of Institutions, said that the NEP had included machine learning and newer techniques, which will train youths to think out of the box and create startups. He stressed that as the Indian Government promotes newer seed funds for startups, the NEP acts as the correct policy for such an ecosystem that would be conducive to fuel the growth of India’s startups. Lastly, it was concluded in the webinar which saw the presence of a good number of delegates along with friends from media that for making India “Aatmanirbhar” in all aspects a youth brigade is required which will be well-armed with knowledge and latest technologies and that is possible if NEP is well implanted in all stages of education.
