Demand For Full Caste Enumeration In The Forthcoming Census And The Setting Up Of A Bahujan Commission In West Bengal

Activists, academics and representatives of various mass organisations involved in the movement against NRC-NPR-CAA 2019 have written letters to the Prime Minister of India and the Chief Minister of West Bengal on the forthcoming census.

The main demands made in the letters are: (i) Delink the controversial NPR process from the forthcoming Census; (ii) Ensure full caste enumeration in the Census; (iii) Set up a Bahujan Commission in West Bengal to conduct comprehensive socio- economic survey among all socially deprived sections of society and recommend measures for their advancement.
