Clowns from across the world leaves City audience mesmerised

The City of Joy witnessed a world of laughter as The International Clown Festival made its debut in Kolkata, with its 10th Editionwith a 3 – day, 3 times a day extravaganza starting from18thto 20thOctober, 2024 at the Science City Auditorium hosted by The Festival by E365 Group. This milestone event, which celebrated a decade of spreading joy, turned out to be an unforgettable experience for audiences across all age groups. Featuring a star-studded lineup of 25 award-winning clowns from 10 countries, the festival offered 120 minutes of non-stop laughter, comedy, juggling, and music with daily shows at 11 am, 3 pm and 7 pm.

The International Clown Festival was held in the city for the first time. Since 2012, E365 Group has been instrumental in bringing large-format international shows to Kolkata, and the festival proved to be a highlight in their growing legacy.

“The International Clown Festival was not just about entertainment; it was about creating unforgettable memories and moments of pure joy for the Kolkata audience. Our vision at E365 is to make Kolkata a hub for world-class international entertainment took a major step forward with this event. We have some big ticket events lined up in the coming months”, said Mr Kinjal Bhattacharya, Founder & Chief Executive Officer, E365 Group.

Curated and produced by Mr Martin Flubber D’Souza, an internationally acclaimed Clown and Former Vice President of the World Clown Association, the event showcased some of the best clowning talent from across the globe. Flubber, a recipient of the International Clown of the Year award, who has performed on some of the world’s biggest stages, brought his expertise to the festival.

“Clowning is far more than just makeup and costumes; it is a form of art that requires immense skill, dedication and heart. It was a fabulous experience to share the joy and happiness that our characters bring to us with the wonderful audiences in Kolkata”, said Mr Martin Flubber D’Souza.

There were 25 clowns who participated in this event including 10 talented female clowns, underscoring the contributions of women in the performing arts. The event also featured interactive workshops, engaging performances, and a variety of activities that enchanted the hearts and minds of all who attended.

With over multiple shows performed by clowns from countries like the USA, Canada, Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Italy, France, Germany, Russia, Spain, and India, the festival lived up to its promise of being the biggest and most entertaining edition yet.

Those who attended were treated to a one-of-a-kind experience filled with laughter, amazement and the magic of live entertainment, making the International Clown Festival a truly memorable event.
