Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the European Football Championship had to be postponed by a year, but now it’s finally happening!
If there is one thing that is keeping the spirits high for the people, at the moment, it is the Euro 2020 (2021).24 nations will play in 11 different stadiums across Europe hoping to win the final and lift the trophy on 11 July. Even if there will be fewer fans watching in the stadiums this year – everyone else will surely be cheering in front of the TV.
The ‘new normal’ has been harsh on the football fans of Kolkata but they will still cheer for their respective clubs from back home.
An unique initiative has been undertaken by Bani Ghosh Memorial Museum Committee. Flags of different countries are being hosted in Nabin Palli adjacent to Nilganj Road in Belgharia.
Soumyajit Kar, secretary of the committee, along with other members of the organization, is one of the the football-crazy fans of the area. Soumyajit said ” As an ardent football fan I am glad the Euro Cup is happening and i am sure this initiative will spread positivity amid these depressing and challening times.”
