Embracing the East for Cultural Harmony – The Purvodaya Literary Festival 2025 is set to unfold in the vibrant ‘City of Joy’. This festival promises to be a celebration of the rich and diverse artistic expressions from the East. The three-day Purvodaya Literary Festival 2025 will be inaugurated by H.E. Shri CV Ananda Bose, Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal(TBC), on 27th February and will conclude on 1st March 2025. Organized by the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies (ISCS) an Eastern Indian based eminenet Think Tank in collaboration with National Book Trust, Indian Council of Social Science Research(ICSSR) Indian Council for Cultural Relations(ICCR),Sahitya Akademi, Sri Aurobindo Bhavan, Publication Board of Assam this luminous festival is set to unfold a captivating journey through the literary brilliance of Eastern India.

This celebration of words and ideas aims to reignite the passion for reading and writing, foster vibrant dialogues among creative minds, and celebrate the invaluable linguistic heritage of this culturally rich region. Key Highlights of festival are: Celebrating Eastern India’s Heritage: Showcasing the region’s rich literary and cultural traditions, from Bengali poetry and Assamese folk tales to Odia epics, the mythologies of Bihar and Jharkhand, and indigenous oral histories. A Hub for Intellectual Dialogue: Fostering discussions on contemporary literary themes, creativity, and national integration. Engaging Youth: Inspiring young readers and writers through interactive sessions, competitions, and educational activities. A Fusion of Arts: Integrating literature with music, dance, and theatre for a richer cultural experience. Building Bridges: Promoting nation-building and cross-cultural understanding with neighbouring countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan.

The Purvodaya Literary Festival 2025 is poised to welcome an impressive gathering of over two lakh participants from the six dynamic states of Eastern India. Talking about the festival Shri Arindam Mukherjee, Director, ISCS said, “The festival will also feature a range of enriching workshops, providing a space for participants to hone their skills and broaden their creative horizons.
