BSF’s biggest success so far on Indo-Bangladesh border, seized gold worth 21.22 crores

 

Desk: On July 21, 2022, at BSF border outpost Gunarmath in North 24 Parganas district, BSF personnel of 158 Battalion had received intelligence, acting on which the South Bengal Frontier jawans took action near the village Gunarmath, adjacent to the Ichhamati river. They ambushed in a suspicious area of ​​the International Border.

Around 06:30 pm, the ambush jawans of BSF saw about 7-8 suspected smugglers crossing the International Border and entering Indian territory in a wooden boat in the Ichhamati River. The ambush soldiers bravely faced the smugglers.

Leaving all the goods there, the smugglers jumped into the river and returned to Bangladesh. BSF personnel conducted a thorough search of the area in which 5 bags were seized. Of these, 321 gold biscuits, 4 gold bars, 1 gold coin and 1 wooden boat besides 4 mobile phones, packing material and Bangladeshi newspapers were recovered.

According to BSF sources, the seized gold is 24 carats and weighs 41.49 kg. Let us tell you that the value of so much gold in the market is around Rs 21.22 crore.

This is reportedly the largest single seizure of gold by any Indian law enforcement agency at the Indo-Bangladesh border. Action is being taken against the accused involved in the incident.
