BSF freed a 15-year-old minor Bangladeshi girl from the clutches of smugglers

 

Desk: BSF South Bengal Frontier troops freed a 15-year-old minor Bangladeshi girl from the clutches of smugglers.

On 17 March, 2021, at around 0900 hrs, the Intelligence Branch of BSF received a specific information that some people were trying to sneak into the Indian territory from the International Boundary (Ichmati River) in the area of ​​Border Out Post Jhorpara, 08 Batallion with whom there was on minor girl also. On hearing this news, BSF jawans rushed towards the suspicious place. Seeing the BSF troops coming towards them, the smugglers ran away leaving the girl. The minor girl was brought to the Border Out Post Jhorpara for further questioning.

In the initial interrogation, the girl said that she (Salma (fictitious name), Bangladesh) belongs to a poor family. She is a fifth grade student and also does a part time job in Textile Mill at Mohammadpur, . Her father suffers from brain stroke for which she needs more money to treat. Then she got in touch with a broker who assured her a good job in Kolkata by crossing the International Boundary. The same smuggler handed over the girl to Sobuz resident ofJeevan Nagar and Alamin Bagdanga. Both are resident of Bangladesh. After staying at Alamin’s house for 2 days, Alamin contacted an Indian broker who asked to get ₹ 20,000 on reaching Kolkata. But BSF caught the girl while crossing the border.

Rescued Bangladeshi minor girl has been handed over to Police Station Dhantala and further handed over to child line NGO Duttapulia.

The South Bengal Frontier strongly condemned such a disgusting crime happening on the international border, and stated that the brokers often play with the life of innocent Bangladeshi girls by luring them to provide highly paid job.They push them into the swamp of flesh trade. Bangladeshi girls fall into the trap of these notorious smugglers. The South Bengal Frontier has activated seven anti-human trafficking units on the international border to prevent such crimes.
