BSF CAUGHT RED HANDED 01 SMUGGLER (CIVIC POLICE VOLUNTEER) ALONG WITH 01KG GOLD

Desk. On 10 Mar, 2021, under the South Bengal Frontier, the troops of the Border Security Force apprehended red handed 01 Smuggler (Civic Police Volunteer) along with 998 grams (approx. 01 Kilogram gold) worth Rs 47,10,042/-. BSF apprehended a gold smuggler, while crossing the International Border through the location of Border outpost Kaijuri, 153 Battalion under North 24 Parganas.
On 10 Mar, 2021 at about 1210 hrs, on the basis of specific input in the area of Border outpost Kaijuri, 153 Battalion, Kolkata sector, Intelligence Branch BSF gave the information regarding smuggling of Gold (Incoming) from Mallickpur to Kaijuri to Company Commander. Immediately instruction were passed to the duty jawan to stop the Bike (Bearing Reg. no. – WB 26L 5181,Hero Honda Splendor, Color- Red). Jawan stopped the said bike while coming from Malikpur side, for checking purposes. During checking BSF jawan found approx 01 kilogram Gold(1Piece) which was hidden in his back Pocket of Trousers. BSF party immediately apprehended the person along with seized items. The apprehended person was identified as Mofijur Rehman (Civic Police), Age – 32 Yrs, S/o Ayub Ali Mollah, Vill- Chithuri, PO – Balti, PS – Swarupnagar, Distt- North 24 Parganas.
On preliminary questioning, the apprehended person revealed that he is an Indian National. He received this consignment of Gold (01 Piece) from a person namely Bokul Gazi, (Age – 28 Yrs), S/o Rasid Gazi, Vill. – Amudia, PO – Amudia, PS – Swarupnagar, Distt- North 24 Parganas. And told him to take this consignment of Gold (01 Piece) to Premnagar, Basirhat, and from there Bokul Gazi will again receive this consignment from him. He revealed that he was involved in the smuggling of Gold for past 10 days. This is the first time he adopted this route, (Balti- Mallikpur- Kaijuri). He also revealed that he got Rs 500/- in each delivery.
The apprehended smuggler along with seized gold being handed over to Custom office Tentulia.
The Commanding Officer 153 Battalion BSF Sh. Jawahar Singh Negi has expressed happiness on the achievements of his troops which resulted in the apprehension of one Indian smuggler along with a 01 Kilogram gold bar. He stated that this could only be possible due to the alertness and vigilance exhibited by his troops on duty. He further stated that his troops are fully determined and committed to fulfil the resolution of zero Smuggling to trans-border crimes, a campaign launched by the IG South Bengal Frontier BSF, Kolkata.
