ASSOCHAM today said India Inc is at one with the Indian Government and would fully support its considered stand on a fast-evolving situation in Afghanistan.
”India and the region, under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi ,advised and aided by one of the finest career diplomats and Minister of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar, would remain on top of the critical geo-political situation and would, I am sure, best achieve what is good for India and the regions,” ASSOCHAM Secretary General Mr Deepak Sood said.
He said, ”Our leadership is best suited and highly capable of protecting Indians and playing a pragmatic role for peace, stability and progress in our region”.
The ASSOCHAM Secretary General said the Indian industry would extend full support to whatever initiatives are taken by our government with regard to the emerging situation in Afghanistan.
”In the past as well, India had taken up several infrastructure projects in Afghanistan. These included railways, energy, and construction. The Indian Government had also collaborated with the multilateral agencies for important projects in that country. Indian professionals including engineers had contributed a lot there”.
Mr Sood said the Indian authorities need to be congratulated for quick evacuation of Indians from Afghanistan, showing a sense of courage, professionalism, and maturity.
He said ASSOCHAM would remain engaged with the government on the way forward.
