After announcement of election dates, electoral violence in West Bengal is not stopping

Desk: After Election Commission announced election dates in 8 phases in the state, electoral violence in West Bengal is not stopping. Yesterday night, there was terrific destruction of the chariots used for BJP’s Parivartan Yatra (journey of change) in Kolkata.

In Kolkata’s Kadapara area, the chariots used by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Parivartan Yatra have been wrecked at around 11 pm on Friday night. The BJP is blaming Trinamool Congress (TMC) for this action. The TMC has raised many questions ever since the election commission has declared the dates for elections in 8 phases in the state.

Political violence has amplified once again in West Bengal in advance of the Assembly polls in 8 phases. An incident of damage also took place in the BJP office in Baranagar, North 24 Parganas district last night. TMC is being blamed of this incident.

A BJP worker was also beaten whom the police later rescued. The BJP lodged a complaint at the local police station about the incident. There is an atmosphere of tension in the area after this incident.
