Body Positivity”on the occasion of the annual initiative, Rang Saga. Actress, Ms Swastika Mukherjee, theGuest Speaker, along with a panel of speakers comprising of Mr Pushpak Sen, Celebrity Stylist & Influencer, Mr Indroneel Mukherjee, Fashion Designer & Pageant Coach and Ms Anwesa Chakraborty, Former Miss Plus Size, India 2019 made the session invigorating. “Bodily autonomy is a clear idea about a person’s whole self, their dreams and potential in life. Each of us has a right to bodily autonomy and the power to make our own choices about our bodies. I truly believe that it is important to aware people around us on body positivity helping them to love their bodies no matter what they look like. I am proud to be apart of this panel discussion where some like-minded people are working towards this idea,” said Mr Meghdut Roy Chowdhury, Co-founder & Chief Evangelist, Y-East & Executive Director & Chief Innovation Officer, Techno India Group.
“Bodily autonomy and body image has the potential to impact one’s life in myriad ways and sometimes comments and statements which are often made by people around us along with the messaging in popular culture could make a mark on how one learns to see themselves. This can potentially affect their life choices, mental health, self belief and relationships. It impacts what they decide to do with their bodies, how they access their sexual and reproductive health and access public spaces. In the world of social media filters, photoshopping and airbrushing, diversity and inclusion needs to be re-emphasised as the society’s core values. In our work, we see a strong connection between bodily autonomy and one’s ability to access sexual and reproductive health and rights and therefore we found it important to set the entire event on bodies, diversities and acceptance. We, at Rangeen Khidki, are working with the aim to build innovative ways to educate and empower communities on human rights largely and sexual and reproductive health and rights in specific,”said Ms Sanjina Gupta, Founder and Director of Rangeen Khidki.
Another highlight of the event was a Stand-Up Comedy Act by Ms Amrita Chanda, Supaarwoman aka Ms Supriya Joshi & Members Of The Retired Comedy Club Of offbeat CCU.
