60th Foundation Day of NITTTR Kolkata (Diamond Jubilee) held

National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research, Kolkata (NITTTR, Kolkata) has initiated its year-long celebration of diamond jubilee on 11th January 2024. This institute is fully centrally funded dedicated to the quality assurance of technical education system of India including both the Polytechnic and Degree Technical Education. The Institute started its journey on 11th January 1965 as Technical Teachers’ Training Institute (Eastern Region). In recognition of its expert services rendered to the nation the Institute was elevated from regional to national status and was renamed to its present nomenclature. The celebration was inaugurated by Chief Guest Professor Dhanush Dhari Mishra, Ex-Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT, Dhanbad, in presence of Professor Tapas Chakraborty, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Maluna Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal, Sri Sajjan Bhajanka, Chairman, Board of Governors, NITTTR, Kolkata in presence of Director, members of Faculty and Staff, Trainees, Students, and Research Scholars.
This celebration has started on Jan 10, 2024 with blood donation camp where members of faculty and staff, including Director and students have voluntarily donated blood. On Jan 11, the day of foundation, various cultural and academic activities including plenary talk and panel discussion were held. Eminent personalities such as Swami Tejomayanada, delivered an invited talk. On Jan 12, 2024, on the occasion of birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, Swami Atmapriyananda Pro-Chancellor, RMVERI, Belur, Howrah will deliver a speech on life and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda.
In the programme, Professor Debi Prasad Mishra, Director, NITTTR, Kolkata, presented an overview of the Institute highlighting its history, achievements, and future directions. Sri Sajjan Bhajanka, Hon’ble Chairman, BoG, NITTTR, Kolkata asserted that this institute should meet the challenges of the present era in technical and higher education. He wished all the success for NITTTR, Kolkata to become Deemed to be University. Professor Tapas Chakraborty, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, MAKAUT, West Bengal, highlighted about the challenges of teaching and learning in 21st Century. He also considered the role of NITTTR, Kolkata in systemic research and development of teaching and learning system under the new paradigm. Professor Dhanush Dhari Mishra, Chief Guest of the occasion, focused on the role of Technology Enabled Learning in the present scenario. He also highlighted the present situation of the higher and technical education and the role NITTTR, Kolkata should play to realize the spirit of NEP-2020 for a better Bharat.
