10th Bhagirath Nritya Yuva Utsav’26 held, Young Indian Classical Dancers showcase their talents

Narteswar Cultural Centre hosted its 10th Bhagirath Nritya Yuva Utsav’26 at Yogesh Mime Academy on January 16, 2026. This year, the festival honored distinguished scientists and academicians from various disciplines and featured 8 renowned classical dance performers from different parts of India, including Hyderabad and Manipur, who captivated the audience with their enchanting performances of Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Manipuri, Kuchipudi, and Padavali. Notable guests such as Dr. Benubrata Das, Dr. Urmi Basu, Dr. Himika Mukhopadhyay, Dr. Sudeshna ShyamChowdhury, Dr. Tanya Das, Dr. Haimi Chattopadhyay, Dr. Gaurishankar Sa, and Mr. Prabir Bhattacharya were recognized for their remarkable contributions in their respective fields, merging science, art, and culture.

The evening commenced with a splendid presentation titled “Panchadeva” and the latest choreographic work on Shiva and Shakti, “Shivangsh,” performed by students of Narteswar Cultural Centre, choreographed by Prof. Guru Dr. Puspita Mukherjee and designed by Sumoyee Mukherjee. The festival director, artistic director of Narteswar Cultural Centre, and esteemed Odissi exponent, Guru Dr. Puspita Mukherjee, remarked that prestigious classical gatherings like the Bhagirath Nritya Utsav transform into evenings of joy and delight as they celebrate unity in diversity, and they eagerly anticipate the next meeting next year.
