Vedanta Sesa Goa Iron Ore brings together India’s top four corporate football academies for the first time by organizing the inaugural edition of the Vedanta Youth Cup, which is endorsed and recognized by Goa Football Association (GFA).The tournament is scheduled to be held at Sesa Football Academy, Sirsaim, Bardez, Goa, from 23rd to 29th September 2019. Vedanta’s initiative is aimed providing the country’s youth with a platform, thus creating opportunities at national level to harness the best of the young talent in footballing arena. It is in line with Vedanta’s CSR vision of developing the grassroots structure for football in India.
Speaking on the initiative, Annanya Agarwal, President, SESA Football Academy said, “I am very excited to be hosting the first ever such football U-18 national level premier tournament in India. Our objective behind the Vedanta Youth Cup is to establish a competitive sports environment for the country’s youth, which will help in honing up and nurturing of their footballing skills at the national level.”
The invitational tournament will feature a blockbuster line-up of India’s premier four youth football academies– Tata Atletico Football Academy, Reliance Foundation Young Champs, JSW Bengaluru FC and SESA Football Academy. A brainchild of SESA Football Academy, the tournament will be held under the aegis of Goa Football Association and is a pioneering effort by the academy.

It is the first time ever that these 4 premier academies will get the opportunity to come together and participate in a competitive tournament at U-18 level. The four participating corporate academies are leading the development of football at the grassroots-level in India and have contributed immensely to the Indian Football ecosystem.

For the Youth Cup, Charles Dias, AIFF ‘B’ License coach, along with Neves Fernandes as his assistant, will be guidingSesa Football Academy, while Carlos Santamarina, UEFA Pro ‘A’ License coach, will lead Tata Football Academy. Erstwhile, former Indian National Team player Arata Izumi will mentor the U-17 Reliance Foundation Young Champs as their Head Coach and on the other hand, Naushad Moosa will be at the helm for JSW Bengaluru FC U-18 team.
