The wait is over as Bengal Warriors, owned by Future Group – India’s leading retail conglomerate – is all set to start their home leg of the Pro-Kabaddi League 7 in Kolkata. The Tigers are currently placed third on the points table and are determined to make it to the playoffs. They will begin their home campaign of the toughest half of the season from 7th to 13th September 2019 at Netaji Indoor Stadium.
With a lot of anticipation, Bengal Warriors fans will finally get the chance to see their favourite team LIVE in action on their home turf in what promises to be an exhilarating week. They play their first match of the Kolkata leg against last season’s finalists, Gujarat Fortune Giants tomorrow at 7.30 pm followed bya game against Puneri Paltan on Sunday at 8.30 pm. This season, in a previously contested match, they have defeated Puneri Paltan 43–23 in Mumbai and have defeated Gujarat Fortune Giants 28 – 26 in Ahmedabad. Apart from these two matches, Bengal Warriors will play against defending champions, Bengaluru Bulls on Thursday as well as an epic battle of offence vs defence when they take on U Mumba on Wednesday, 11th September.
On completion of the league stage, the Play-offs will commence on October 14, with the grand finale being scheduled for October 19.
The team is looking forward to the support from fans during their home leg. Bengal Warriors Captain Maninder Singh, also their star raider with 92 raid points at the end of the first half of the tournament, and Coach BC Ramesh; Arjuna Awardee, addressed the media today and spoke about their expectations for the home leg.
Maninder Singh, Captain, Bengal Warriors said, “The team is excited to play at Kolkata and are looking forward to the support from fans in this wonderful city. We have had a good season so far but now the season gets tougher as all teams have played enough matches overall and a few against each other and can strategize better. We will build on our good start and take the teams to the playoffs and eventually the championship.”
BC Ramesh, Coach, Bengal Warriors said, “We are in our home-ground and with extensive support from fans – this will be an interesting week for the team. Currently, we are in a confident frame of mind and moving towards the ‘Toughest’ half of the league with confidence. We are concentrating on the fitness and on-mat practice to make sure we give our best performance during our stint in Kolkata.”

Besides Captain Maninder Singh, the other standout performers for the Bengal Warriors this season have been defender Rinku Narwal with highest tackle points and Mohammad Esmaeil Nabibakhsh with highest points as an all-rounder. The team has the best raiding performance among all the 12 teams and their defense too has performed well. Overall, the team is one of the most balanced teams in the tournament.
Please note, that due to the unavailability of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium on 13th September, Friday, Match no 87 (Telugu Titans vs U Mumba) has been shifted to 10th September, Tuesday and Match no 88 (Bengal Warriors vs Bengaluru Bulls) has been shifted to 12th September, Thursday.
